TRACkers fund raising
TRACKers fund raising today at Wesley Methodist Church was a long affair. We sold food items to most of their sunday congregations. In the end, we posted enough profits to cover close to $300 for each missionary. Praise the Lord! The rain today was quite a dampener tho. Got home super tired and crashed from 5 to 7! |

radio ads
Every morning in the car, I hear radio ads which are utter RUBBISH. I don't know how the company's bigwigs actually approve such thrashy shite. The mistubishi evo 10 ads and some "$5 off my abalone" ad is really really irritating. S'porean creativity going to the dumps ah? |

That's strange. The past few nights' have been dream laden. And these dreams have either left me feeling very tired upon awakening or weirded out. I wonder what will happen tonight again. |

matriculation card
I just got my SMU matriculation card. Came in the post today. I thought I'd have to go down to SMU to collect. Apparently not. Thank God man... the trip there is gonna be a huge hassle, since I have no reason to go town at all nowadays. Been so busy with TRACkers and stuff. |

problemz
So many problems around me and within me. I'll have to choose carefully which ones I should proactively address and which ones I should let solve themselves. |

God has made life a lot more meaningful to me thru TRACkers. Praise God! Even when i hear things which batter my emotions, I stand stronger now. Coz I know that God is my number 1 love now! I almost posted another emo-shit post but I decided it was stupid and I was forgetting the greatness that was shown in the past 2 weeks! |

mad december
Whoa... I had absolutely no time to blog proper since I landed from Bangkok 2 fridays ago. Events just totally zoomed past me at breakneck speed. SRC, LTC, Christmas, Crossroads and, now, One Voice Retreat, has completely gone. The past 3 weeks of December vanished in a whirl of activity! I'll blog when I can. Am extremely tired now. Ciao! |

a reflection on inflation and other things
Reading the newspapers has become increasingly depressing of late. Not that it hasn't been depressing so far, but today's was pretty bad. The subject which draws my greatest attention is Inflation. I recently felt the effects of Inflation when I went to KFC and discovered that their Zinger meal came with mashed potato and coleslaw instead of cheese fries, the price being left unchanged. I should have foreseen this as Burger King, a long time back, downsized all their fries and drinks in their meals while keeping prices constant. That made me boycott them. Now they have raised all their prices. I'll never step into another fast food joint again unless I've totally run out of ideas for what to eat. Anyway, we all know inflation always happens. It's a perpetual thing. The only question is how much do we notice it? Now, it's pretty much in your face. It forces me to rethink how I spend my money, especially since I just stopped working and money isn't coming in. I find it kinda amusing that we are the ultimate reason why inflation has gone up so much. We consume so much that we strain the earth's resources. So now that there is a shortage of the most crucial resource (ie. oil), every other thing goes up since oil drives every industry, be it directly or indirectly. It isn't just oil that is dwindling though. Metals are also becoming more and more scarce. That's why so many metal thefts are reported in Singapore and many other countries over the past 2 years. Whole zinc roofs can even go byebye! it's a pity that the oil shortage news occupies a relatively small portion of Singapore news as compared to socio-political unrest and advertisements. I think it reflects the fact that humans are more interested in other human exploits than the earth. It is to be expected though. I mean, how many people would rather watch a tree grow compared to a human being? This blogging phenomena is another simple illustration of that. I know I am beginning to sound like a tree hugger. I am by no means denouncing humanity, for in what position am I to do so when my own carbon footprint isn't as small as it should be! There are plenty of things I love about humanity. It's just that, I feel that people should take a much greater notice of the environment around us and our effects on it. The progress on the political front has been encouraging of late. I don't know much else of what's going on but the recent ASEAN Summit had some agreements inked to promote efforts to rein in pollution. But, what about the day to day life of any layman? Do WE do enough? I admit I don't. And I admit it's hard for me to go 100% green. However, I am trying to. The question I want to ask is; how many of us do make conscious decisions to be more environmentally friendly? It's the pretty simple stuff that we ought to start with, really. Set an 'off' timer for your aircon so it doesn't run the entire night. Refuse a plastic bag if you're merely buying 1 or 2 items. Don't leave your PC on the whole day, even when you're AFK. Use both sides of every piece of paper. Use a cup when rinsing your mouth instead of a running tap. It all sounds easy but habits are hard to change unless you are willing to! Here's a take from a religious perspective; if God gave us this world to live in, we ought to take care of it to the best of our ability. Are you? |

Tuesday to Today
Ok I shall attempt to update on what happened for the past 3 days in this entry. Let's begin with Tuesday! I hate to say that my financial situation is in the dumps, but I can't deny it. After Ichiban Sushi on monday night, my wallet was pretty light! Hence, belt-tightening was very evident as I had all meals at home on Tuesday. I essentially spent the entire day at home before jam at Tampines for SRC at 8pm. I spent most of that time answering the first few questions posed in the TRACkers application form. Managed to finish 2 before putting it off again. What a bummer I had when I completely forgot to catch ManU vs Sporting that night! Wednesday had more things to do. I awoke at noon and had lunch. Went to my former office to submit some due documents. After that, Isaac and me went to church to have a look at TOFU games testing. What I saw left plenty to be desired. Will be praying for the committee as I hope things will turn out fine in the end! I had a nice fast jog at night. 1 round to test my speed. Stupid me forgot to time it! Today was action-packed. My whole family went to Sitex at EXPO to check out what was on show. I bought my LCD monitor and to my shock, my mom also bought a 32inch Sharp Aquos! Now the whole area outside my room has been rearranged. On the downside, the new screen actually makes my Xbox graphics look dated! Now I'm wondering whether should I get a HDMI cable for that. At the show, I also sold my (6-year-old) Playstation and 5 controllers for $30 at the Cash Converters booth there. Quite amusing leh! I was surprised that they even took it in! All the games I had are in the thrash now. haha! Spent awhile in church before going for SRC Jam again. At 10plus, I went for a jog with my sister. 3 slow rounds to loosen the legs. Man, I need to jog this frequently to improve my waistline! Amidst all the rubbish I do at night before I sleep, I watch Muppet Show clips on Youtube. DAMN FUNNY stuff. It brings a wave of nostalgia. I really love the Swedish Chef, Prof Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker! I'll embed a clip below for ya'll to see. Funny shite. Well, I gtg now. Busy weekend ahead. Ciao! |

Sunday to Monday stuf
Saturday was quite a crazy day. I awoke hung-over and from the previous night's exploits. Rehearsal for SRC skit was quite fun. I have only 1 line to do, so I shall do it well! hehehe.... rushed to Jalan Tembusu with Isaac and his dad for our church's friendly against Wesley Methodist Church. I partnered Isaac in central defence. The pitch was HORRIBLE. the mud was at least a couple of inches thick with grass on top of it. It looks peachy from far but it's extremely crap once you step on it. We won with an eyebrow-raising 6-1 scoreline. I seriously doubt this was the in any part the same team that nicely beat us at Soccer-for-Bibles and MWS. Rushed over to Fish&Co at the Glass House after that. I felt reeeeeally hungry and tired by the time I got there. Worked up quite an appetite after all that playing. It was really nice to see the friends from my SJI days that really made life there special and an experience I will long cherish. Some of them have changed, some haven't. But it was a great time, especially with the nice surprise KP planned for max and jack. The after-effects of that crazy Saturday was felt on Sunday morning when I had to wake up at 9am to go CMC. I wanted to crash on the bus ride there but a niggling headache prevented me from doing so. Besides, I had something to occupy myself as well. CMC looks quite a homely church. Their Youth Ministry starts at 10.30pm, so their worship hall is filled up on time. Perhaps 9am is quite the bugbear to YMpact punctuality on Sunday eh? haha~ Anyway, their inclusion of the p5 and p6 kids in their worship session is pretty interesting. Perhaps it can be implemented in YMpact for easier integration of the Sunday School kids. However, what about the 11am kids? Had this AMAZING nasi ayam penyet at the parkway hawker centre. It looks like a new stall. I'll definitely hit that place again at least twice before the year is out. power siaz. Crashed at home the rest of Sunday coz I was soooo sleepy. Monday, I met up with Jessie to go Aston's at Katong. What an epic failure it turned out to be. After a crazy journey, we arrived to find that it takes MONDAYS off! *curse and swear* Nevertheless, we hung out for awhile at Parkway Parade before eating Ichiban Sushi. Turns out the food there's pretty good! But I'm broke now. Massive kudos to Jessie for coming from Bukit Batok to parkway just for this! The sheer irony is that she actually reached home EARLIER than me even tho we left at the same time! How likely is that?? Ok I'm actually quite exhausted typing so much. I doubt many people would actually read this anyway. I'll update soon about Tuesday and Wednesday! |

Just got back from Timbre. Had 3 pints of erdinger. was quite tipsy after that! at least the prata + Teh tarik got me a bit more sane. hahahahha! Sheesh now i'm pretty poor... I got a minor grouse to air. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy's ending is EXTREMELY WTF. so abrupt! the storyline is all about improbability and what can be more improbable than the Earth being a computer designed by another imba-epic PC and constructed by MICE from many many light years away to calculate the QUESTION of life given the answer is 42, only to be demolished by ugly aliens 5minutes before it's 10-million-year wait time for the answer to be generated, simply because it had to make way for an inter-stellar HIGHWAY?? The wit and humour portrayed throughout the novel funny tho. at least i didn't waste double-digit dollars on it! |

Days 3 & 4 after ORD
I wonder what is wrong with the LJ servers; loading each page takes a significantly greater amount of time! It can't be my Vista's fault as every other web page loads at normal pace. *shrug* The past 2 days have gone by in a whirl. Been slacking at home playing my shooter games. On wed, I had this awesome mediterranean buffet at Cafe Brio's at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront hotel. The spread there was eye-poppingly good. They served Milk Rice, some sweeter-but-less-tangy version of pineapple rice, which was damn good. There was also this baked macaroni, minced beef and cheese dish which resembled lasagne. Its name starts with the letter 'P' but I really can't remember it! Good stuff too! There was lamb, sashimi (which wasn't very well cut but the Maguro was great), a choc fondue station, and the best chocolate mousse I have ever had! At $44++, it's quite a pinch but for a once off thing, it's damn good. I went cycling ytd at ECP with Victoria. 2 hours was sufficient to cover the entire trip to-and-from the McDonald's to the SAFRA Golf & Country Club end. We did it at a leisurely pace too! We went to airport for dinner after that. However, we got off the wrong bus stop and had to walk through the new T3 at Changi Airport. It was gorgeous! The interior is soooo spacious and airy. They really outdid themselves this time! Can't wait for it to open. Got home a bit late after Ps Aaron's ordination and the closing of the 32nd TRAC Session. Felt dazed but I still managed to get some game time in. Watched the WORST rap video ever too. Please click on the link below to see. It's really beyond comment. |

Beowulf rating: 3/5
Watched Beowulf today. It wasn't that great as a show la. The plot was kinda thin and it had a weird intro and a dodgy WTF-ish ending. But massive credit to their CGI. It was extremely realistic. Amazing stuff. Wouldn't have trouble believing that the world they created actually exists. The rendering and textures have come a LOOOOOONG way since Toy Story 1, which was very very impressive on its own! Luckily we watched it in its digital format, otherwise it wld've been worse. I still cant get the Linkin Park concert out of my head at times. hahahahaha~! |

new PC
Day 1 of my ORD proper. Spent it slacking at home. Did random stuff on my PC. been playing a couple of games too. Call of Duty 4 is a really really awesome shooter. Best graphics since HL2! So damn realistic la! The enemy AI makes each kill so hard the further they are from you. I found myself leaning close to the screen every time I had to scope in for a kill. the "loading" inbetween missions are damn cool too. They managed to integrate the mission briefing into the load so that you are immediately thrown into the action once the loading is all done. Bioshock is an amazing FPS too. On my new PC, the graphics are nothing short of AMAZING. the storyline for this is also extremely interesting. This game, above everything else, is a great work of art. the storyline, dialogue, plot development, combat and environment you are exposed to is beautiful, enthralling and at times make me drool and exclaim in sheer awe "WAH LAO EH". I'm close to completing it now. I'd love to replay this game again. It's great. I'm kinda hooked onto Jimmy Eat World's latest album, Chase This Light. Good stuff. The standout tracks are Big Casino, Let It Happen and Chase This Light. have a listen if u want to! Gonna watch Beowulf tmr with Isaac, Desmond and Bryan. Hope it's good! |
